Our Tina is a 1975, Purple Velvet, 4 door, 2 litre, automatic, mark three Ford Cortina 2000E with a black vinyl roof (the 'E' stands for executive, in case you were wondering...) The car has been extensively renovated, is driven regularly and is very reliable.
The car has recently been fitted with a 2 litre pinto engine from a Sierra which means it is now truly unleaded and runs more smoothly. Under the bonnet you will also find a set of Dukes of Hazzard-style dixie air horns which can be tooted repeatedly on request. The car was born in Daggenham in the seventies and currently lives in Somerset - though we will happily travel to most corners of the UK to make your big day one to remember.
As far as we know this is the only purple Mk III Cortina in the UK offering this kind of service on a regular basis. It is the same sort of car as the one used in the TV show 'Life on Mars' (except that one had the front grille and K plates from an earlier GXL model appended to it to make it look like it was from 1973 when it wasn't).
Inside, the car has wood panelling, furry leopard-print seat covers and purple fur trim. It has been fitted with a top of the range Sony CD stereo system connected to high quality Infinity and Alpine speakers fitted front and rear (and covered in purple fur). The stereo has a remote control so that you can operate it from the back seat and play it as loud as you like on the way to your event. We can make a CD of your favourite music on request - or feel free to bring your own - on CD, in an MP3 player or USB memory stick - just warn me if it's Celine Dion and I shall bring my ear plugs.
Your journey in this car is intended to be a magical experience, not simply a trip from A to B - it might be the only chance you get to spend a moment together during the non-stop bustle of the average wedding. If you want people to stop and stare when you're driving down the road, listening to your favourite music, whilst sipping champagne through a straw then you've come to the right place...
